Keeping Your Skin Clear and Healthy in Your 30s and Beyond

Who said only teenagers suffer from acne? Unfortunately for some of us, pimples do not go away after we've reached the age of adulthood. And let's face it, we might be more mature and more financially and emotionally stable at this stage, but pimples will always cause us to act like a teenager. That is, act as if we're doomed.

However, busy schedules because of careers and even families require us to find simple solutions that do not consume too much time. Below is a list of some of the options for the 30-year-olds and, ahem, older.

1. Pamper yourself. Since you are already a career person (I hope, for your own sake, that you are at this stage), maybe you can afford to go to a spa or a skin clinic, say, at least twice or thrice a year? That wouldn't be too bad. Get a facial. Seek the advice of the professionals. There is nothing less worrying than knowing that you are being taken care of by the people who knew what's best.

2. Eat right. If you're too busy to have a proper meal, just grab a snack that you can eat at your desk; but instead of going for burgers and fries, have an apple or a pear. Or a salad. Or a carrot stick. I know they are not as good as the double decker with cheese, but you would look prettier if you opt for the less-delicious options. It's just a matter of choice. Do you want to satisfy your palate and become unhealthier or do you want to settle for less-sterling snacks but look prettier? Apple tastes good, though. Carrots? Well, you'll get the hang of it.

3. Exercise. It does give your skin a certain glow. Go to a gym. You might even improve your social life through membership.

4. Avoid staying up late. A bit hard to do if you have a demanding job, but if you know how to be efficient (meaning you finish your task and does not procrastinate), then you might get earlier nights. Unless you prefer to party. Leave that for the weekend if I were you.

5. Proper hygiene. Wash your face regularly and do moisturize! Mature people are more prone to skin dryness so you really need to follow this one.

Taking care of one's skin does not end at 19. The older we get, the more we need it. And the harder we should be working on it.
