Home Remedies for Acne: What Nature Has to Offer As Solutions

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Home remedies for acne can be found in your kitchen, your garden and even the bathroom cabinet! If you prefer to scour your home for solutions instead of going out and seeking professional help, then these remedies might just work for you.

The kitchen
Home remedies for acne can be found in the kitchen. Some of the cooking ingredients lying around your kitchen can provide you with an overnight solution to the persistent zit. If you happen to be looking for an overnight cure, look no further than the cooking station. One, there is the tomato. Two, how about a mixture of corn flour and egg? Three, salt and vinegar.

A mixture of tomato pulp, honey and rose water can be used to get rid of pimples. Just apply the paste to your face and leave it on for 30 minutes and then wash it off with clean water. Making a paste by mixing corn flour with egg is also a proven solution. Just pat the paste on your face and wait for 30 minutes before washing it off. If you do not like making pastes, just mix salt and vinegar, dip a face towel or a cotton ball on the mixture and dab it on the affected areas. Leaving it on for fifteen to twenty minutes before washing it off with clean water usually does the trick.

The garden
Most common herbs can also help alleviate pimples and other skin bumps overnight. One of the more common ones is Aloe vera. The gel-like substance from Aloe vera can be applied to the reddened skin and washed off after 30 minutes. Doing it every night, even after the pimples are gone, can also help make your skin clearer and smoother.

Aside from Aloe vera, cucumber is also effective in preventing skin breakouts. Make a paste and apply it to your face. Leave it for 30 minutes before washing it off with clean water. If you don't have cucumber, how about cabbage? Mix the liquefied leaves with witch hazel and lemon oil and use the mixture as a facial lotion. Leave it on overnight and you will see the effect the next day.

The bathroom cabinet
You have heard so much about the usefulness of toothpaste when it comes to getting rid of zits. Applying a small amount of toothpaste on the pimple will help reduce the redness and ease down the swelling overnight. This solution, though, is more of an emergency remedy than anything else. For long term remedies, toothpaste just wouldn't cut it.

Home remedies for acne can be found just about anywhere around your home. If you prefer to solve your pimple problem without having to drive to a skin clinic, then one of these remedies might just work for you. A few minutes of your time and a few simple ingredients and you will get your desired result.
