Clear Skin Tips: How to Keep Your Skin Healthy and Glowing

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Having a clear, glowing skin definitely adds to a person's physical appeal. The desire to have beautiful skin has made all of us eager to try out almost every skin product and every advice that skin experts have given us. But achieving a clear, healthy skin can be as basic as making adjustments to the things that we already do everyday. To have a better understanding of these simple steps, here are a few clear skin tips.

Clear skin tips always emphasize the importance of hygiene. Washing your face at least twice a day, especially before you went to bed, is a must. Keeping your face and the rest of your body clean will help prevent dirt from accumulating on the skin pores – a condition that usually leads to acne and other skin problems.

Psychology. Yes, your psychological condition does have a lot to say about your skin. Mental stress causes your hormones to go ballistic, leading to skin breakouts and other unhealthy conditions. Tension does manifest itself on your skin. Notice how the glow disappears whenever you worry too much? It's not your imagination, it really is happening.

Diet. Eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the most important steps in having a clear skin. The vitamins that we get from these foods cannot be substituted by merely taking supplements and using facial creams. Making sure that you have at least three servings of either or both can go a long way towards giving you that glowing complexion.

Cosmetics and healthcare products selection. To get an idea of what cosmetics, facial wash or moisturizer fit your type of skin, consulting a skin expert is still the best way. Oily skin requires a different set of cosmetics and facial care products from those who have dry skin. It is also better if you can minimize the use of cosmetics since the chemicals they contain can clog your skin pores.

What to avoid. First, cigarettes. Smoking gives you toxins and can contribute to unhealthy blood circulation, not to mention the other health-related problems that this habit can create. Second, excessive drinking. Too much of anything is always bad. And for your skin, too much alcohol is just not good. Third, staying out late night after night. Getting at least eight hours of sleep is necessary if you really want to have a healthy skin. The more rest you have, the better your skin will look in the morning.

Clear skin tips can only get you so far. The important thing is to have the resolve to maintain good habits; not only will they help you have that healthy skin, they can also help keep your overall health at its peak.
