What Are Acne Red Marks?

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Acne red marks commonly appear during the period of healing following a skin condition. These marks are produced by infection and disappear more quickly than other forms of skin discoloration although it is possible for them to last between four and twelve weeks. The length of time that they are visible, though, still depends on a lot of factors.

Acne red marks can be deemed as a good sign since they appear during the time that the acne is clearing up. The red marks should not be confused with pigment or melanin which is brown in color. Melanin is a natural result of skin injury that could be a cut or a burn; whereas red spots are more like signs of acne undergoing a healing process.

Individuals who have light skin are more likely to develop red or purple marks during the healing process. These spots, though, are only temporary and will eventually fade. The length of time before these marks disappear varies from one individual to another and is influenced by a lot of factors. One of these factors is the severity of the acne. The red spots will disappear more slowly if the type of acne that was treated was of a severe kind. It could also depend on the natural healing ability of the person; some people heal faster than others and those who are gifted with quick healing abilities might see the disappearance of these marks faster than those who have slower healing natures.

If you are the type of person who cannot tolerate any imperfection on his or her skin and would like to see the marks disappear quickly, a simple solution can help. To aid the quick disappearance of red spots, mix five teaspoons of baking soda with water to make a paste that can be applied to the affected part of the skin. Leave the paste to dry for a few minutes and then wash it away with clean water. But caution has to be taken when opting for this quick solution, you have to make sure that you are not allergic to baking soda or similar materials.

Acne red marks are caused by infection and are quite common during the healing process. Although there is a way to make the spots disappear faster, the best method of dealing with them is to let them run their course and hope that you’re one of those who heal fast. The good thing about red marks caused by acne? They are temporary.
