The T area acne

The T zone, which is constituted by the face, upper shoulders, neck and back, is most vulnerable to acne eruptions and inflammation. These eruptions include whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules and nodules and are popularly known as the T area acne.
Of this, the highest number of acne eruptions is concentrated along the forehead and the nose line till the chin area. This zone, which is referred to as the T area in the face, is more prone to pimples and pustules rather than nodules or lesions because of the presence of a high number of oil glands. The nodules and cysts occur more in the back or the chest area.
Another reason for acne eruptions in this area is the sensitive nature of the skin. It is constantly exposed to dirt, dust, sweat and grime which clog the pores and deepen the infection. Most people also keep wiping their face with a tissue or a handkerchief, which only irritates the skin.
Regular application of cosmetics, especially oil-based cosmetics, adds to the flare ups. The skin pores get clogged, and become vulnerable to bacterial attacks. The problem is aggravated in those individuals who keep running their hands through dirty and oily hair and then use the same hand to wipe their face. By doing so they deposit more oil on the face.
That is why it is a good practice to wash your face with cold water. It closes the skin pores, and prevents entry of bacteria. If you have a predominantly oily skin then you should wash your face several times during the day. Also, you should pat yourself dry after a bath instead of rubbing the body with a towel. A good practice is to wash towels, pillow covers and bed sheets once a week with an antiseptic solution. This can prevent the inflammation from spreading.
Also, you should use water-based cosmetics and not oil-based or cream-based. There is no harm in using herbal creams or lotions but make sure that they are tested and certified products. You should also ensure that you are not allergic to any ingredient in the cream because an allergy can worsen acne and make it more painful.
Ideally, you should stick to a healthy diet comprising of greens and fruits and drink lots of water every day. They flush out the toxins and keep your T area skin supple and healthy.
