How To Prevent And Treat Acne Scars

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Acne, or pimples as they are called can happen to anybody. It did to me, and maybe to you, too. And if it hadn’t yet, then there are chances that it will happen to you. You’ve probably seen how pimples look like- certainly not good, right? Pimple breakouts can really be annoying.

It gets in the way of smooth and flawless skin. Acne is definitely a blemish to your looks. Equally annoying, or even worse than acne is acne scars. Acne scars are those "craters" or depressions that past pimples have left. If you have found the right acne treatment, chances are that they will heal in no time.

But what of acne scars on the other hand? They can be with you for all your life. So when you’re caught up with a pimple breakout, be careful. Don’t do anything that would cause scarring later on, such as popping or scratching the pimples. I remember when I was a teenager and I had a severe pimple problem.

My mom tried buying a good acne product for me. Well, the product may have been “good” for others, but not for me. It turned out that I was allergic to it and as expected, my problem got worse. I looked worse because my face swelled and had rashes all over.

Over more than a decade later, memories of that incident still haunt me, especially when I look in the mirror - because of the acne scars. And now I spend a considerable amount for skin care products to hopefully remove the scars. So I hope you can get the moral of the story there.

To prevent scarring, be gentle with your treatment and choose the right product. And watch out for allergic reactions. Prior to applying the product, test it on your skin first. And look for ingredients in the product such as alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy. (These are vitamins, by the way).

They would help in a faster healing of your pimples. Much more, they can help prevent scarring. Taking care of your skin can also keep it from having scars. Avoid too much exposure in the sun, and if you must, use a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more.

And if you already have scars and scabs have developed in them, don’t remove the scabs. It’s a surefire way of worsening the scars. It would make them more noticeable than they would have been otherwise. So take extra caution when pimples appear on your face. Just gently cleanse your skin and apply your toner and lotion on them.

It may take a bit of time and if the problem is not chronic, your pimples will eventually heal. If you’re looking for the right acne product, try natural products. I’m using a natural product for my skin care regimen now and it’s giving me great results. And the acne scars dilemma is beginning to look promising- they are becoming less noticeable.

Once you’ve found the right product, you are more likely to get what you hope for when it comes to your beauty needs. The internet is a good place to start where you can find lots of options for beauty products. Plus, you can gain more information and proof from reviews and testimonials.

Remember, you and everything about you is natural. So you might as well care for you and your skin the gentle and natural way.
