Getting to Know Some Celebrities With Acne
Tuesday, March 24, 2009
If you've suffered from low self-esteem due to acne problems during your teenage years, you've probably come to the conclusion that pretty people don't get acne - and we're not just talking about the girl next door or the most popular cheerleader on campus. We're also talking about big-name stars, Hollywood hotshots, media sensations, et al - they of the flawless faces and perfectly confident smiles. But did you know that underneath all that veneer, celebrities are just people, like you and me? It may be tough to find celebrities with acne, but rest assured, they are out there, and they need to come out!
But why bother to find celebrities with acne in the first place? Why destroy their carefully polished surfaces, their painstakingly manicured glamorous sides? Well, for one thing, it's always good to debunk myths, one of them being that pretty people don't get acne. For another, it's to help pimple-ridden teenagers realize their true beauty, and know that they need not be trapped in their poor self-image. With proper care and treatment, or at least good coverup, an acne condition can be alleviated.
Let's start with Lindsay Lohan. It's well known that she's the poster girl for ProActiv, one of the most popular over-the-counter (OTC) topical acne solutions around. Given the strict standards of perfection in today's Hollywood, it's probably not easy for a celebrity to come out and say she had to use acne medication, but there goes Lindsay! P. Diddy, Vanessa Williams, Jessica Simpson and Kelly Clarkson also swear by ProActiv. But to prevent this article from turning into a press release, let's find other celebrities to expose.
Let's turn away from Hollywood for a second and turn our attention to another popular glamor destination: the United Kingdom. Would you believe that all of the three young actors playing the main characters in the Harry Potter series had acne during the production of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire? That's right, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all had to wear lots of camouflage makeup to hide their acne, and there was even digital enhancement made on the film to make their faces look smoother! So the next time you feel bad about your acne condition, take a good long look at this list of celebrities with acne. Never feel sorry for yourself again!
