Genital acne: How to fight off stubborn Genital Acne
Saturday, March 28, 2009
Genital acne is a skin affliction that affects the sensitive areas of the body, mainly the genitals. Genital acne is one problem that attacks irrespective of age and gender. One’s private parts are prone to discomfort resulting from stubborn acne that one can neither live with nor easily tackle. Bacterial infections, clogging of pores with sebum and over secretion of other hormones are probable causes. Note that it is not a contagious sexual disorder. If you feel the urge to itch or suffer from pimples and pus-filled painful pores in the private parts, this could be genital acne.
Genital acne is similar to the whiteheads and blackheads on other parts of the body. It is just that the discomfort is higher in private parts. Never prick or squeeze the oozing pimple. Soothing over-the-counter skin solutions for acne are available, like Benzoyl peroxide formulations and gentle astringents. Avoid wearing ill-fitting innerwear. Using gentle detergent for the underwear is a recommended move, as most genital acne is aggravated by using harsh detergents in the hopes of killing bacteria.
While a visit to the doctor is recommended, one can also learn to reduce the symptoms by taking the right action. Keeping private parts clean is a very good measure, especially if you are back from the gym and have sweat trickling down your skin. Lesions need medical treatment, so do not hesitate to visit your preferred doctor. Wash your underwear with warm water or antiseptic. Change innerwear frequently if you are prone to excessive sweating.
While genital acne can be treated effectively, sexually transmitted infections are entirely a different story. It is better to head to the dermatologist for expert advice. Sound advice from trusted friends could also help to solve the problem. Face and fight genital acne because you can!
