Acne in Other Parts of the Body: Identifying the Often-Ignored Culprits
Saturday, March 28, 2009
It is not only our faces that suffer from acne, this condition can also manifest itself in other parts of the body such as the back, the underside of the jaw, the neck and even the arms. No matter where they appear, zits are just not welcome and people will always try to find a way to get rid of them.
1. Acne on the back. This is quite common among teenagers, although adults also experience this condition. Treatments commonly used in the face can also be used to arrest pimples that appear in the back. The thing to remember, though, is that our backs are prone to sweating, particularly if we regularly workout. Sweat can aggravate, so regular showers are necessary and constant change of clothes are needed. To prevent the zits from getting irritated, wear clothing that keeps you cool. Cotton is always better than other types of cloths when it comes to keeping cool.
2. Jaw acne. Pimples that appear at the underside of the jawline are often caused by improper washing of the face. It could also be due to our habit of letting our faces rest on our palms. When we wash our face, we sometimes tend to give less attention to the underside area of the jaw. Aside from this, this area is where the sweat dripping from our faces usually rests. The next time you clean your face, give a little more attention to the dirt that have already accumulated at the underside of your jawline, you'll be surprised how much help it can produce. And get your hands off your jawline!
3. Acne on the neck. This is caused by whatever is causing the acne on your face (hormones, bacteria, etc.). But one of the commonly unidentified culprits when it comes to pimples on the neck is our hair. If your hair is shoulder length or reaches the area of your neck, it could aggravate the zits already there. The sharp ends of the strands of our hair can cause pimples to get irritated, particularly if you don't wash your hair regularly. The best thing to do is to tie back your hair; but if you prefer it loose, wash it regularly.
Our daily habits might not cause acne in themselves, but some of them can definitely aggravate the condition. Pay a little more attention to these revelations and you might find yourself having fewer acne-related problems.
