Acne Along Jaw Line: Tips on How to Deal With This Skin Condition

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Acne along jaw line is one of the more recognizable types of acne. A lot of people have complained about this skin problem and most of them are at a loss as to how to deal with it. This type of acne is no mystery; it is the same as ordinary or common acne, except that it has chosen one of the places where it would be most irritating to have a skin problem.

People who have acne along jaw line sometimes ignore this skin condition, primarily because it is not as exposed as pimples found in the face. But there are things that we do, which we are not aware of, that worsen the acne found along the underside of our faces. Some of these unconscious actions include resting one’s face on the hands, absently picking at spots, not wiping sweat off this area and allowing the hair to continuously rub against the jawline.

The chances of having acne along the underside of the face can be minimized by starting with the things that we have control of. First, no matter how bored you are, avoid resting your face against your hands. The dirt in those palms can cause a lot of pores to get clogged and boredom would be the least of your problem after bacteria has made a home in that part of your face. Second, if your hair is long and touches the underside of your face, tie it back. If it would hinder your style, make sure that you avoid hair care products rich in silicon and wash your face, along with your jawline, at least twice a day. Third, don’t pick at spots on any part of your face. Be strong, resist the temptation. Lastly, if you’re going to be involved in a highly physical activity that would make you sweat, wear a headband to prevent the sweat from dripping all the way down to your neck. And wipe that sweat off before it dries and cause more skin irritation.

Aside from these steps, a person can minimize his chances of suffering from acne in any part of his body by maintaining a proper hygiene regime. Keep the face clean with mild facial wash products. For women, avoiding the use of excessive makeup can help prevent acne from breaking out along the side of the face. Proper diet with lots of vegetables and fruits, exercising and drinking lots of water can also help in keeping the skin healthy.

The condition of acne along jaw line is much the same as any other forms of acne, but it can be controlled by being more conscious of our actions and following a clean, healthy lifestyle.
